The
car park is still accessible during the work to restore the maritime character
of the Mont-Saint-Michel. Still, because of the future access structures works in the area, the car park will not welcome for parking vehicules of more than 2 meters high from the 1st to the 27th of April 2012.
Specific feature: the tides
The Mont-Saint-Michel is a site which is subject to the strongest tides in Europe. While the Mont-Saint-Michel can always be accessed because the causeway is never covered regardless of the water height, the car park at the foot of the Mont-Saint-Michel is submersible. Once or twice a month, this car park is partly or fully covered by the sea for several hours a day. Signposting on site indicates when parking is authorised.
Maritime car park operation
For safety reasons, traffic moves one way and at low
speed (30 km/h). The highway code applies.
An overspill car park is available on high tide days only. Parking is
therefore kept available near the Mont-Saint-Michel.
Parking
spaces are available for disabled people at the foot of the Mont-Saint-Michel’s
ramparts.
Opening times and prices
The car park is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, with payment times (from 8am to 7pm) when the car park team is available.
After a vote by elected members on 10th December 2010, the car park modified its prices as follows on 1st January 2011:
Motorbikes €2
Cars €6
Camper vans and caravans €12(until the 31st of March 2012)
Season ticket (cars only) €24
When you pay for your parking you contribute to the operation to restore the Mont-Saint-Michel’s maritime character.
