The eight and last sluice gate
was put in place
during August 2008.


June 2008



Two on four of the pillars (number 3 and number 4) have been conmpleted. the two others are currently being iron structured and will soon be concreted.

The sluice gates have already been made in factories. They are taken on the site during the month of June and will be put in place by the end of the summer.

Works progressing on the east side

Currently, the iron structure of the dam's plinth is made. The next step will be the concreting. It is already possible to guess the shape of the future sluice gates that will be put in place there.

Water through the first half of the new dam

Before the whole dam is completed, the sluice gates already put in place have the same fonction as the old ones : they are closed during high tide so that the floot can't get into the river.

The first half of the dam is completed, now water can go through it, even if it doesn't work yet as it will when the whole dam is finished. (Crédit Syndicat Mixte).

To build the second half of the dam, it is necessary to create a watertight structure on the other side of the Couesnon.again (Crédit Syndicat Mixte).

October 2007

THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAM NEARLY COMPLETED

The first four sluice gates are put in place.

Now the supersructures are on : a bridge on the top of the dam has been made of concrete so that visitors can cross the river (september 2007).

Ensuite, les premières opérations relatives aux superstructures du barrage ont débuté : Les éléments composant la charpente métallique du balcon maritime ont été posés. 

Le balcon est porté par des consoles métalliques, ancrées sur les piles.

August 2007

THE FIRST SLUICE GATE ON SITE

The civil engineering is now completed (concrete, piles...). The new step, related to the equipments of the sluice gates is now starting. 

The sluice gates are made in two pieces, the arm and the apron) by two different factories (on next to Nantes, the other next to Caen) and are assembled on site.
The first of the eight sluice gates has arrived on the works area by the end of august.

Works on the existing dam and creation of a new final part for the rain water evacuation

Works on the existing dam are made :
- a dam is created on top of it so that the vehicles can safely drive on it,
- new ways (pertuis) are opened into the dam to let the water going upstream escape.

Morover, the final part for the evacuation of rain water is completed.

WORKS AREA SETTLED, THE WORKS CAN START

The work area has started to be developped on the 7th of june 2006 by the companies Quille and Mastellotto.

Drilling have also been made in the Couesnon bed where the future new dam foundations will be built.

Starting of the building work of the new dam on Couesnon

Public meeting on the launching of the works of the new dam on Couesnon

On Thursday May 4,2006 a meeting of presentation of the conditions of achievement of the new dam on Couesnon was held in the room Alain Cuny de Beauvoir and chaired by Philippe DURON, president of the Joint Council Bay of the Mont-Saint-Michel and president of the regional Council of Lower Normandy.

This meeting made it possible to inform the residents of the building site on the zones concerned with its installation, the schedules of work, the plan of transport ...
